We Americans love raw power and oversized machines. Whether it is about horsepower and muscle cars, the size and power of our muscle trucks, or the towing capacity of our towing vehicle – we simply enjoy going over the top. It’s what drives us and makes us excited about being alive.

When it comes to 24/7 towing vehicle lovers and manufacturers, each year there’s an ongoing “best towing capacity truck” war that makes American towing truck builders go even further with the design, horsepower, ruggedness and towing capacity of their vehicles.

And we? We like it a lot!

So, let see which truck has the best towing capacity and which other 5 machines have also found their place on the Phoenix Towing best towing capacity truck list for 2018!

Nissan Titan (2018)

Max Towing Capacity: 9,740 lbs
Price: $30,030

Position number 6 goes to the famous Nissan’s Titan. Although this machine cannot exactly match the towing capacity of the trucks ranked higher on our list, this towing vehicle is a pretty mean machine indeed.

It is extremely versatile in terms of towing capabilities and has a rather handy and versatile bed that provides high utility in many other aspects of towing. For example, The Titan has 3 bed lengths you can opt for, and it provides you with an opportunity to add:

  • removable in-bed storage boxes
  • moveable tie-down cleats
  • a fold-down bumper step
  • a power outlet
  • cargo bed lights…

Toyota Tundra (2018)

Max Towing Capacity: 10,500 lbs
Price: $31,120

Toyota’s Tundra has a nice towing capacity, but it does lack some other features that may be crucial for some of the towing technicians out there. You may perhaps find the price to be rather high for the package you are getting with Tundra, to be quite honest. Namely, this truck lacks smartphone integration system and has very limited engine options, but on the other hand, this machine offers spacious rear seats, an extremely user-friendly infotainment system, and has quite a few safety features.

Toyota Towing Truck

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (2018)

Max Towing Capacity: 12,500 lbs
Price: $28,300

Chevy Silverado 2018 offers a nice comfortable and luxury cabin, while its towing and hauling capacities are also ranked very high. Word of advice, though: if you planning to perform frequent heavy towing with this truck, we recommend you opt for the optional 8-speed transmission that provides the driver with much more optimal gear spacing, which can be crucial for heavy towing purposes.

Phoenix Towing overall score: 8.5/10

GMC Sierra 1500 (2018)

Max Towing Capacity: 12,500 lbs
Price: $29,000

GMC Sierra 1500 offers an extremely comfortable, spacious and upscale cabin, while the price-performance ratio is what really makes this truck stand out. It provides good value and quality, offers great seats, a standard 7-inch touch screen, while it also features a high safety rating. Handling is where we see room for improvement, though.

Phoenix Towing overall score: 8.6/10

Ram 1500 (2019)

Max Towing Capacity: 12,750 lbs
Price: $31,695

Ram 1500’s outstanding 2019 redesign gave us one of the greatest towing vehicles to ever cruise the highways. The cabin in this ride is amazingly luxurious and the seats are one of the most comfortable ones we’ve ever tried. As for its towing and hauling capacities, we think that Ram 1500’s numbers should do the talking:  Max Towing Capacity: 12,750 lbs; a 305-horsepower V6 engine (upgradeable to 395-horsepower V8 for max towing experience).

Beware that the V8 engine can be a rather thirsty beast, though.

Phoenix Towing overall score: 9/10

Ford F-150 (2018)

Max Towing Capacity: 13,200 lbs
Price: $27,705

The Ford F-150 is definitely the meanest machine her and truly the best-buy option on our best towing capacity truck list for 2018.

This machine offers the most potential when it comes to towing and hauling capacities, while it is also equipped with a fine arsenal of additional gadgets and technology. The seats and the cabin are comfortable and very spacious, which makes F-150 highly suitable for longer rides as well. As for the gas mileage numbers, this towing truck comes at 25 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city, so it among the most efficient trucks currently in its class.

Phoenix Towing overall score: 9.2/10
